What role have public school educators played in your life?
- One educator that played a role in my life was my high school English teacher Ms. Crab! The way she taught and brought out my interest in Shakespeare was life changing for me. It made reading more important in my life! And I can’t forget our football talks!!! She REALLY knew the game…
How has your years in a public school setting enriched your life?
- It help me deal with people from all walks of life. I had great relationships with kids that were of different race. I would spend time with them and also there families and was able to see that there lives were just like mine. Today, that helps me to not be judge mental because of those relationships I had in public school.
Why are electives (i.e. performance arts, languages) so critical in public school?
- Because it enhances the students imagination and unlocks the creativity of the student. It gives them a chance to develop the gift they have and possibly make it a career.
What was your most memorable experience in your tenure at Hopewell schools (K-12)?
- Beating Aliquippa in football my Senior year under the lights!!!!
Why is it important to encourage the next generation of educators to join the profession?
- Because they truly make an impact in people’s lives. Some life changing, when a teacher has a passion for what they do, it literally reaches the soul of the students and changes there life!
