The Hopewell Education Association would like to thank all first responders from the Hopewell and surrounding communities for their selfless actions on March 29. Our educational community was devastated with a potential tragic event. The Association recognizes the actions of our entire faculty, administrators, paraprofessionals, secretaries, maintenance, bus drivers and cafeteria workers who unified as a team to protect the welfare of our precious students.
At our debriefing, our principals, first responders, and superintendent addressed the staff and thanked us for our efforts in securing a safe haven for our students. As an Association, we are especially grateful for their kind words as they reassured their faith in us; moreover, we reassured our faith in them; now more than ever. As the police chief and principal read heartwarming emails from parents, thanking our Hopewell school community, we were comforted to know that our leadership team along with our members worked as a unified family to protect the students of this community. The outpouring of support and kindness acts of gratitude from parents throughout this experience truly warms our hearts. We appreciate their confidence during this unexpected journey. Quite frankly, they have been awesome!
Lastly, we would like to acknowledge our students, the most resilient group of young people who actively cooperated, helping their peers to safe places, and working with faculty and administrators as a Hopewell Viking team. No teacher could ask for a greater group of students; our future community leaders. Today is thankfully a great day to be a Viking!
